Full Name: Deangelo Roth
Nicknames: Squirrel, De
Age: 27
Species: Common Squirrel Monkey hybrid.
Species Traits: Squirrel is very agile, he’s a skilled climber and has a prehensile tail. He also has long, dextrous fingers.
Appearance: Squirrel stands at 4’8”, not including his tail, which is 5’3” long. His fur is very short, colored olive-brown at the shoulders and yellowish orange on his back, arms and legs. His throat and ears are white, while his mouth and eyes are black. The fur on his head is a bit longer, and has a tendency to stick out at random angles.
He has a wirey, skinny build, that hides reasonable physical strength, thanks to his extensive work with machines.
He wears grease-stained jeans, steel-capped leather boots and some sort of t-shirt or muscle top when he’s working on machinery, but usually takes off the boots when he’s not working, so it’s easier for him to walk or climb. He also wears a beanie or a hat of some sort, and a pair of goggles is always strapped across his forehead - you never know when you might need some eye protection.
Personality: When it comes to making sure that a piece of machinery is working as well as it can, Squirrel is serious, and gets on with his work. Some say he loves machinery more than anything in the universe.
However, when excited, Squirrel can get extremely hyper and restless, literally bouncing off the walls. He has a motor mouth when this happens, and it’s hard to understand what he’s on about sometimes. He is also prone to having a very short attention span.
Squirrel is also quite clever. Unsurprisingly, he knows a lot about machinery, and he likes reading, and building things such as remote controlled cars or aeroplanes. However, he can be very slow when it comes to understanding jokes and sarcasm - it once took him a few days to understand the punch line of a joke.
All around, Squirrel is a nice guy. He values his friends, loves his family, and would like nothing more than to settle down with a wife and a couple of kids, and perhaps eventually open a repairs shop, once he’s retired from the airship business.
While he is physically strong, he does not like fighting unless absolutely necessary.
Personal Background and Family: Squirrel was the first child born to Stanley and Jean Roth, about 27 years prior to now. Stanley was a first generation hybrid, and Jean a human, so they were shunned from society, and left to live in a trailer park in the outskirts of Los Angeles.
Jean was the brains of the couple, and had a reasonable paying job at the local library because she was pure human, which, along with the money Stanley made from fixing machines all around the city, let them live a comfortable life, despite the conditions they lived in. They always had food in the cupboards, every child (three boys, one girl) had a bed, and while they didn’t have a lot of material possessions, they were always warm and safe.
Squirrel grew up with a love for machinery, like his father, and thus was taught everything there was to know about machines.
He started working with his father from the age of 16, repairing all sorts of machines, for money. He loved working with machinery, and his skill at it caught the interest of a famous airship captain.
He hired Squirrel, who was just 20 at the time, and things were good. He’s been working on the airship ever since.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Squirrel is very agile, a skilled climber and can hang from his tail. He is a skilled mechanic, and knows almost everything there is to know about machines. He is also physically strong thanks to his work with machines.
However, he can be very hyper and annoying when excited, and he is slow in understanding some things, such as jokes, and sarcasm. He does not like fighting unless absolutely necessary, and therefore he is not very skilled at any style of fighting.
Role in the Crew: Mechanic/Engineer
Other Notes:
Squirrel has an odd diet. While he eats everything regular humans do, he often has cravings for insects and sometimes small lizards.
